Privacy Policy
1. Controller
MARKTWERT Magazin, Spandauer Str. 2, 10178 Berlin, Germany. Represented by Managing Director Hartmund Klein. Email: presse@marktwert-magazin.de.
We have not appointed a data protection officer because the legal requirements for doing so are not met. Please send privacy enquiries to the email address above.
2. Principles
We process personal data only where necessary to provide a functioning website, our content and services, or where you have given consent. Legal bases are in particular Art. 6(1)(a) (consent), (b) (contract), (c) (legal obligation) and (f) GDPR (legitimate interests).
3. Hosting and server log files
When you visit our website, our hosting provider automatically processes information transmitted by your browser: IP address, date and time, page requested, referrer URL, browser type and operating system.
This is done to deliver the website, ensure stability and security and defend against attacks (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log data is deleted after a short period unless needed to investigate a security incident. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place. Processing may take place in third countries (e.g. the US), safeguarded by adequacy decisions (EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework) or EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
4. Cookies and local storage
Our website currently does not use cookies for analytics or marketing. Technically necessary storage is used only where strictly required (Section 25(2) TDDDG).
Should we use analytics, advertising or partner services in future, we will obtain your consent beforehand via a consent banner and update this policy.
5. Fonts (Google Fonts)
We use fonts from Google Fonts (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). When you load a page, your browser retrieves the fonts from Google servers, transmitting your IP address to Google, possibly also to the US.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is a consistent presentation. Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. More: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
6. Contact by email
If you contact us by email, we process your details (name, email address, message content) to handle your request, based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where related to a contract, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f). Data is deleted once no longer needed, subject to statutory retention periods.
7. Journalism and media privilege
Where we process personal data for journalistic purposes – such as researching and reporting on companies, executives and public figures in business – the media privilege applies (Art. 85 GDPR in conjunction with Section 23 of the German Interstate Media Treaty and state press laws). Data subject rights are restricted in this context.
8. Business partners, clients and partnerships
For companies in Germany and abroad for which we produce content (e.g. labelled sponsored content, company profiles, interviews), we process contact and contract data of their representatives (name, role, business contact details, correspondence, billing data).
Legal bases are Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual steps and performance), (c) (commercial and tax retention obligations, usually 6 or 10 years) and (f) (maintaining business relationships). Transfers to clients outside the EU/EEA take place only where necessary to perform the contract (Art. 49(1)(b) GDPR) or where appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses are in place.
Personal data in interviews or profiles is published only with the consent of the persons concerned.
9. External links
Our articles link to external sources (e.g. authorities, central banks, companies). Once you click, the provider's privacy policy applies. No data is transmitted to these providers before you click.
10. Retention
We store personal data only for as long as required for the relevant purpose or statutory retention periods.
11. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)).
To exercise your rights, simply email presse@marktwert-magazin.de.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Ours is: Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin, www.datenschutz-berlin.de.
12. Security
This website uses SSL/TLS encryption. We take technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, manipulation and unauthorised access.
13. Changes
We will update this policy when our services or the law change. The version published here applies. Last updated: October 2026.
